200 runners, 1 ton of waste collected: the Clean Up Dossards results at Marseille-Cassis
In 2025, as every year, the Marseille-Cassis race attracted 20,000 runners who fought for bibs to the legendary race. And this year, 200 of them wore a Clean Up Dossard, an initiative by Relais Vert and its Endowment Fund.
The concept: leveraging the appeal of the race to raise awareness about wild waste among new audiences, by earning a race bib through participating in waste collection, individually or collectively.
2025 Key Figures
"Every opportunity to rally people around the issue of waste is a good one, and if it can be done in a fun and sporty way, count me in! I was delighted to be the first ambassador of Clean Up Dossards, and I hope to see them at other races in the future."
— Pierre Ambroise Bosse, World Champion 800m and first ambassador of Clean Up Dossards
A positive outcome beyond the numbers
An accelerator for transition
Thanks to Clean Up Dossards, the organizers of Marseille-Cassis decided to go further by conducting a complete environmental impact audit in 2025 to accelerate reduction measures from 2026.
Mobilization through sport
Thanks to the appeal of Marseille-Cassis and the involvement of Pierre Ambroise Bosse as ambassador, the initiative raised awareness about wild waste among a new audience.
An app to take action all year round
Beyond the race, the initiative led to the development of Clean Challenge, an app that encourages waste collection year-round across France.
"Thanks to your app, I've developed a habit of picking up and cleaning waste every day while taking my daily steps. People in my neighborhood have gotten used to seeing me collect waste, and some have even joined in. I downloaded your app to win a bib, but in the end I gained much more than that — so bravo!"
— Imad, Clean Up runner who collected 78 kg of waste via the Clean Challenge app
